Is this Christmas or Halloween?

An article on Style.com was examining the new trends in make-up for this holiday season. And according to the article, unique and different is the best option for holiday partying this year. Now, I love make up. I think it's tons of fun and can completely change a look! It's fashion for your face. But the make up shown in this article was a little...too much. We have to remember that this is Christmas...not Halloween. Let's take a look at what Style.com was showing us:

Now...If you go into a party like THIS. I wish you all the best of luck on people's reactions.

My theory? Go with something a little less crazy, but still as powerful.

This is a fabulous cranberry colored lip with a smoky that's perfect for the winter season (especially at night), but it's still not overdoing it or looks like you're trying too hard.

Heed my advice, stay away from the teal raccoon eye look.

Why buy when you can DIY?

For those of you that have been living under a rock recently, you may not have heard of the incredibly popular website 'Pinterest.'
I'll start by saying...I'm addicted. It has all sorts of categories to look at pictures from weddings to home decor to gifts to recipes! But the category I'm obsessed with...Do It Yourself, or better known as DIY. It has everything imaginable to make all buy yourself! Which is a lot cheaper than buying it from a retailer and also a lot more fun for you creative types! Everyone that has an account and post pictures and instructions on how to make these fun crafts! Even I have participated by uploading the Christmas ornaments that I make and sell during the holiday season!

But here's the question.
Will the people that make these crafts and sell them for a living lose their profit?
Does the economy have an effect on this and why more people are making their own things rather than purchasing them? Would you rather make it yourself or purchase it? Will the home-made craft have more poor quality?

But you should buy an ornament from me :)

White is the New Black.

According to E! News, black is officially OUT for this upcoming winter season and white has taken over! The "no white after Labor Day rule" has been tossed in the trash along with our black winter garments, I suppose. It's great to see the fashion industry finally breaking that boundary and going for this gorgeous winter wonderland look. Personally, I love white. I think it's classy, beautiful, timeless, but unfortunately, hard to keep clean. So let's all put on our white coats and get ready to look like snow bunnies for this chilly season!

Fall Trends 2011...All just a little bit of history repeating.

According to Glamour Fashion, the fall trends for this year consist of:

Blazers, Coats and Vests
Mustard Hues
Polka Dots
Rust Color Coats
Camo Inspired
Maxi Skirts paired with a Cozy Sweater
Lace
Choker Necklaces
Plaid
Jade Green Dress
Chunky Sweaters
Bright Pants

Now, they've always said that fashion repeats itself. I suppose I've never lived long enough to see it until now, though. Polka dots, camouflage, choker necklaces, plaid and chunky sweaters all bring back some memories for me when I was about 9. These things were all the rage in the 4th grade. It's just incredible to see it all brought back but have a whole new swing on it. All the more reason to love fashion. No matter how old it is, it can always be made new.

Lady In Red

This week we had the wonderful delight to all stare at our TVs with no thought in our heads and enjoy what is the magic of the Emmys. And if you're a fashion major, like to look at pretty things, or have ovaries like me, the red carpet was your favorite part. Speaking of red, that seemed to be the trending outfit this year.

As you can see, we had some pretty big celebrities all decked out in red!

Chilly? Not quite.

Autumn is finally here, but this Texas weather just isn't allowing us to enjoy it. However, the past few days have been very pleasant and cool...around 8am. Being born and raised in Texas, I have the understanding that just because it's 60 degrees when the sun goes up, doesn't mean it won't reach 100 degrees by the end of the day. Some of my fellow Baylor girls do not have this advantage. This week I saw so many girls with boots on. BOOTS! Yes, girls...this may seem like a great idea when you wake up, but come 2 o'clock, you're going to feel awfully stupid. And pairing your UGG boots with your Nike shorts doesn't help your situation. So for now, stick with jeans and sandals or topsiders. Avoid looking like an eskimo until the real winter weather arrives.

Baby Beauties.

Today one of my dear friends gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Not only did this child hit the genetic lottery with his two gorgeous parents, but he is also going to be the best dressed infant known to man. I had the opportunity to look at some of the outfits picked out for him and it was like looking through Ryan Gosling's wardrobe. The fashion for children has come miles from when I was little. The things MY mother dressed me in should never be spoken of again. However, with so many high end children's lines out now and shows like "Toddlers and Tiaras" on air, how can we not treat our children like celebrities to make sure they are dressed to kill? It's all too tempting of an ordeal. Although there has been debate in the controversy of to doll your child up or not, I believe you can never start teaching fashion too young. Maybe the next generation will make Karl Lagerfeld look like the designer of Wal Mart. We can only hope.
Keep on trucking you fabulous dressing daddies and you fashion molding mommies.

Happy Birthday, baby Ellis :)
Congrats and good luck to Tara & Kyle.
